A great sports bra is more than a piece of kit — it’s the foundation of comfort, confidence, and performance. Whether you’re an A-cup or fuller-busted, every runner deserves the right support.
👙 Why It Matters
Running without proper support can cause discomfort, long-term strain, and even affect posture and breathing.
🛍️ What to Look For
- High-impact support
- Adjustable straps
- Moisture-wicking fabric
- Snug, not suffocating
How to work out the right size bra
What you’ll need to measure to find the perfect size you need to shop for.
- A soft measuring tape
- A mirror
- A notebook or phone to jot down your measurements
Tip from the experts: Wear a non-padded bra, try not to measure without a bra as this will impact the over-bust measurement.
Step 1: Measure Your Band Size
- Stand in front of a mirror and wrap the measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust.
- Ensure the tape is snug and level all around.
- Round the measurement to the nearest whole number. If it’s an even number, add 4 inches to get the band size. If it’s odd, add 5 inches.
-
- Example: If you measure 32 inches, your band size is 36 (32 + 4). If you measure 33 inches, your band size is 38 (33 + 5).
Step 2: Measure Your Bust Size
- Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it parallel to the ground.
- Don’t pull too tight; the tape should rest gently against your skin.
- Note down the measurement in inches
Step 3: Calculate Your Cup Size
- Subtract your band size (from Step 1) from your bust size (from Step 2)
- The difference in inches determines your cup size.
-
- 0 inches = AA cup
-
- 1 inch = A cup
-
- 2 inches = B cup
-
- 3 inches = C cup
-
- 4 inches = D cup
-
- And so on.
Tips for the Perfect Fit
Straps: Your bra straps should rest comfortably on your shoulders without digging in or slipping off.
Band: The band should sit snugly around your ribcage, providing most of the support.
Cups: Your breasts should fill the cups without any gaping or spillage.
🛠️ Test Before You Buy
Jump around. Jog in place. If anything moves uncomfortably — it’s not your match.
✨ Bonus Tip
A good sports bra should last 6–12 months of regular use. Rotate if you’re training often.
The right bra doesn’t just support your body — it supports your power.
