As the Title Sponsor of the “World’s Most Beautiful Marathon,” we know that the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon (TTOM) is more than just a race – it’s a rite of passage. Whether you are tackling the 56km Ultra, the 21km Half, or the technical Two Oceans Trail Run, your March mission is to refine your strategy and finalise your kit.
Preparation this month involves more than just running; it’s about “Course Familiarisation.” The TTOM route is famous for its back-to-half climbs – Chapman’s Peak and Constantia Nek. To survive these, your March training should focus on “strength-running,” ensuring your legs can handle the eccentric load of the downhills just as well as the steep ascents.
The Transition: Road to Trail Many athletes this year are attempting the “Double” – the Trail Run followed by the Road Race. This requires a very specific gear pivot.
- Salomon GRVL: If your training takes you from the paved roads of Newlands onto the gravel paths of Newlands Forest, the Salomon GRVL is your hybrid hero. It offers the comfort of a road shoe but features Salomon’s legendary “Contagrip” lugs for safety on the mountain.
Whether you are hitting the VOB Constantia 15km on 7 March as a final speed test or joining our weekend prep runs, remember: The mission starts now. Gear up, show up, and let’s own the ocean.
